The Somaliland Strategic Advisory Group is a Somalilander-American nonprofit dedicated to fostering closer ties between the Republic of Somaliland and the United States of America.
Founded by Somalilander-American professionals, SL-SAG is committed to supporting Somaliland's quest for recognition as a sovereign state and a member of the world community.
Somaliland is the only functioning democracy in the Horn of Africa — with a proven track record spanning over three decades — that commands full recognition in order to sustain peace, security, and stability.
SL-SAG provides strategic advice and policy guidance to the Somaliland government on world politics, economic development, and infrastructure. We maintain close relationships with U.S. government officials, scholars, politicians, and investors who openly support the Somaliland case.
As Somalilander-Americans, our members act as a strong bridge linking the United States and Somaliland together — ensuring Somaliland's voice is heard at the highest levels of American policy-making.
On November 13, 2024, Somaliland held its sixth presidential election — a peaceful transfer of power that confirmed its standing as the Horn of Africa's most stable democracy. SL-SAG coordinated an international observer mission drawing 19 senior officials from across Africa, Europe, and North America.
